Crossed Off the List

Autobiographies are in the mail and crossed off the list. While we wait for our social worker to call and set up an interview, we need to take the online course "With Eyes Wide Open". I looked at the preview chapter and it seems like it will be valuable.

Multi-tasking

Right now I am working on my autobiography for the agency (3 pages completed so far!!), downloading music, listening to Shoutcast radio, and providing a warm place for Merlin to nap on my legs. Who says you can only do one thing at once?
P has yet to start on his autobiography yet; he's a little busy trying to pull stuff together for his interview on Tuesday with the director of the Doctorate program he wants to apply to. I'm trying to not to push him, he knows it needs to be done.

The Next Step

Finally, a fat envelope was waiting in our mailbox today. We're offically moving on to the next step for Catholic Charities, a 7-10 page autobiography for each of us. I'm terribly excited! Phew, poor P can stop worrying that his being in therapy would keep us from being able to do it.

Joy

The excitement in our families has been pretty cool to experience. I saw P's aunt and cousin, both of whom are already planning on being at the airport with balloons and signs, v. cool. By the time our little one arrives, it will be over 5 years from the last baby in P's family, and almost 14 in mine-so it seems everyone is chomping at the bit for a baby. My mom has been so anxious to buy us something, anything for her grandchild-to-be, and we found something last night. I let her buy me wee chamois hangers from Pottery Barn Kids, because they are not gender or size-specific, and let's face it-they're soft, pretty colors and just so darn cute!
We're feeling the frustration of the wait though...

I Got Nothing

blah blah blah still waiting blah blah blah nothing's happening...

But I had lunch today with one of my sisters-in-law who can't wait to throw me a shower. A baby shower! For me! And my baby! That was really nice to hear.

He's A Keeper

Merlin the Halloween kitty is now a permanent resident of our house. Gus and Tabby aren't thrilled, but they'd be bumped from no. 1 on the totem pole when the baby arrives, so better sooner than later, right?
It's nice to have something to baby while we wait...and wait...and wait some more.
